The social justice ministry is made up of activists committed to DO, GIVE, SHOW UP, CONNECT and LEARN.
Diane Alexander is new to this area of the country and very much enjoying the adventure. She has been a church member since 2018 and formerly a member of the First UU Church of Houston. As a professor of environmental and inclusive design, she was well known for her service-oriented learning projects revolving around social justice issues that always created a win-win between the non-profits and students.
Jan Fontanella is a new member to the church, joining in 2019. She is a retired social worker and has always been active in politics and social activism. In addition to reading and travel, loves the theater and has been a volunteer usher at the Hartford Stage and Playhouse on Park.
Linda Scacco has been a member of the church for over 25 years. She is passionate about social justice issues, in particular gender and racial injustice. She is a psychologist and teaches at the University of Hartford. She enjoys reading, writing, swimming, spinning, and traveling.
Susan Wilson joined the church in 1985. Besides being a worker bee and a bell choir ringer, she has held leadership positions in church governance and stewardship. Her passion is always in social justice issues. She has a Masters of Social Work and spent many years in public policy work in early childhood. She loves women’s basketball, folk music, and traveling.
