Community Kitchen

Community Kitchen

With our Community Kitchen, launched in 2013,  we're connecting with people in need and putting our values into action. Thanks to the support of our congregation, local donors, and dozens of volunteers, we're getting help to people who need it. 

We serve hot, healthy meals in our welcoming dining room; 

We pack and deliver weekend food backpacks for at-risk students in West Hartford schools;

We distribute fresh produce and meats from the Foodshare mobile pantry and our own Food Pantry; 

We make and deliver sandwiches to downtown Hartford soup kitchens. 

Our Partnerships Help Donations Go Further 


Through partnerships with local agencies, grocery stores and restaurants, we have access to quality foods that are donated or deeply discounted. We also receive support from local service organizations, agencies, businesses and individuals, including:

Boy Scouts Troop 44

Thanks to these partners and our own hardworking volunteers who donate their time, we can deliver our services very efficiently. Your donations go a long way at the Community Kitchen:

$25 buys a hot breakfast for 25 people

$50 will fill 50 backpacks with weekend food for hungry kids

$100 makes 50 hearty, healthy hot lunches

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

Foodshare Mobile Truck Delivery
Join us in the church parking lot to help distribute fresh produce from our local food bank. 

Every other Monday, year-round
Volunteers arrive by 8:45 AM. To volunteer, just show up!

Community Breakfasts
Volunteers work in the kitchen and serve in the dining room. No cooking experience needed. In Fiske Hall.

Every other Monday, year-round. Cooks and setup teams arrive by 7:30 AM.

Weekend Food Backpacks
Volunteers work in our kitchen pantry organizing supplies & filling backpacks, then deliver to schools. We work in the Multi-Purpose Room. 

Wednesdays & Thursdays during the school year.Volunteer hours are flexible.

Food Pantry
We distribute frozen meats, fresh produce, dairy products, and a wide variety of canned and dry goods in through our monthly pantry in Fiske Hall.

Weekly Donation Pickups
Each week, we receive generous donations of baked goods from Big Y and Panera Bread. We need drivers to pick up from locations in Bishop’s Corner and deliver to our kitchen in Fiske Hall.  

Big Y  -  Fridays between 11AM -1PM 
Panera Bread  - Mondays at 7:30 AM

"Have a Heart" Sandwiches 
We assemble sandwiches for the House of Bread, a soup kitchen in downtown Hartford. We work in the Fiske Hall kitchen. 

Tuesdays, 8:45, year round
