Outreach and Inreach to GLBT persons. As a Welcoming Congregation we include and address the needs of gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgendered (GLBT) persons at every level of congregational life, welcoming not only their presence, but the gifts and particularities of their lives as well. We engage in outreach into the GLBT community and offer congregational and ministerial support for rites of passage for GLBT persons, including services of union, child dedications, and memorial services. We also seek to nurture ongoing dialogue among GLBT persons and to create deeper trust and sharing.
The Welcoming Congregation Committee plans and sponsors events throughout the church year. Current and past projects have included outreach/support to local GLBT youth, letter writing ministries, and supporting marriage equality. In addition, we will continue efforts to inform the congregation of issues facing the GLBT population and provide opportunities for outreach and advocacy.
